Master's Thesis in the field of GaN Power Electronics
Background
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.de) currently operates 76 institutes and research facilities in Germany and is the world's leading organization for application-oriented research. Around 30,800 employees work on the annual research volume of 3.0 billion euros.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is one of the world's leading research institutions in the fields of III/V semiconductors and synthetic diamond. Together with our partners from industry and science, we research and develop electronic, optoelectronic and quantum technological components and systems. The focus is on research and development for applications in the fields of security, health, energy, information and communication.
What you do with us
In the field of power electronics, the institute pursues new device designs of more efficient GaN-based transistors for high reverse voltages. Based on this research we offer interesting topics:
- Process development of a new gate module for GaN-based power devices
- Electrical and morphological characterization and evaluation of the individual process steps (e.g. AFM, Hall, EL etc.)
- Electrical characterization of processed devices
- Simulation of different device designs and comparison with electrical data
What you bring along
- You are enrolled as a student in physics, electrical engineering, materials science or a comparable degree program.
- You are interested in challenging scientific content from experiment and theory.
- You enjoy scientific work.
- The ability to work in a team, openness and motivation for independent, goal-oriented work round off your profile.
What you can expect
-
Access to the latest technology and state-of-the-art laboratory equipment
-
An open and team-oriented corporate culture that gives you the opportunity to contribute your own ideas
-
During your time with us, we offer personal support at eye level / support from experienced scientists and experts throughout your work
- Flexible working hours that suit your studies allow you to manage your time freely and independently as part of our core working hours
- Frelo station (bike rental system) and parking garage with e-charging station directly at the institute
We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled people are given preference if they are equally suitable.
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft plays a central role in the innovation process by focusing on key technologies of relevance to the future and on the utilization of the results in business and industry. As a pioneer and driving force for innovative developments and scientific excellence, it helps to shape our society and our future.
