SQ Durlach II

Joint Project: EnEff:Wärme: SQ-Durlach II - Demonstration of scalable solutions and development of digital methods for planning, implementation and operation of integrated energy concepts with large-scale heat pumps in existing neighborhoods; Sub-Project: Monitoring of the Durlach neighborhood

Project management: Michael Kropp
Funding period: 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2027
Funding code: 03EN3095C
Funding body: Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)
Promoter: Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (PtJ)

The project aims to demonstrate scalable solutions for integrated energy concepts with heat pumps in existing neighborhoods and develop digital methods for their planning, implementation, and operation. This is crucial for accelerating the energy transition in the face of a shortage of skilled professionals and the need for robust transformation pathways in a volatile market and regulatory environment.

Integrated energy concepts with heat pumps in the 10-100 kWth power range will be demonstrated at two locations. Scientific monitoring will optimize system technology and networked operation. The development and application of digital methods and processes will enable the operation of networked neighborhood concepts with reduced need for skilled professionals. Research and development are needed for the integration of heat pumps into the overall system and the standardization of solutions. Innovative components such as combined photovoltaic-thermal heat pumps and water supply systems will be tested, and system approaches for heat pump energy centers will be developed. The dissemination of operational and implementation experiences from pilot projects is an important aspect for the successful implementation of the energy transition.

In the sub-project Monitoring Quartier Durlach at INATECH, the scientific monitoring is continued and the optimization measures are scientifically accompanied.
